Water Week Campaign: Local Residents Get Free Bottles of Water |

In an event organised by the CJ Langehoven Memorial Library in conjunction with Oasis on Friday, 22 March 2013, residents who were in the vicinity of the Oudtshoorn Taxi Rank were caught in a surprise when the Executive Mayor of the greater Oudtshoorn, Aldm Gordon April handed out free bottles of water accompanied by the Speaker Aldm John Stoffels.
More than 200 bottles of water branded with save water message were handed out by library officials to by-passing residents as part of celebrating World Water Day. Some of the messages contained and spread on the day include: “Drink, save and preserve water”, “Water is life, let every drop counts” and “Fix leaking taps today”.

Volunteers Wash 62 Cars Free of Charge as Part of Water Week Campaign |

Showing its commitment to ensuring safe and healthy environment to its citizens, the Oudtshoorn Municipality hosted the Department of Water Affairs at its free car wash event which recorded a total of 62 washed cars on Saturday, 23 March 2013 at the Bridgton Chalets as part of an annual Water Week campaign.
Aldm Gordon April, the Executive Mayor of the greater Oudtshoorn washed a car of a visitor from the Eastern Cape flanked by the Speaker John Stoffels and the Chairperson of the Technical Services Portfolio, cllr. Hendrik Ruiters. They were part of more than 50 volunteers who washed the 62 cars comprising officials from the Department of Water Affairs, Oudtshoorn Municipality, Cape Nature and its volunteers.

Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Confiscate Counterfeit Goods Worth R50 000 at the Absa KKNK |

OUDTSHOORN – The recently appointed Municipal law enforcement officers have made a number of arrests and confiscated counterfeit goods at a various stalls since the beginning of the 19th Absa KKNK on March 29, 2013.
These officials have confiscated counterfeit goods valued at approximately R 50 000, ranging from sunglasses, t-shirt, hooded tops to soccer jerseys branded with well-known brands such as Nike, Addidas, Rheebok and Puma.
“These operations form part of an agreement entered into between the Oudtshoorn Municipality and the Absa KKNK which among others include prevention of selling counterfeit goods during the festival and more importantly to protect those vendors who made it their effort to buy the original brands,” said the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr. Deon Lott.
